How to send HD photos on WhatsApp chats and groups
How to send HD photos
1.
Open WhatsApp and select the chat to which you want to send HD media.
2.
Choose to take a new photo or video with your camera or select media from your phone’s file picker.
3.
Once in the editing view, tap the HD icon to select Standard or High Quality.
4.
Tap Done to save your selection.
5.
Finally, send the media. The chat will display a small HD badge to denote that the media is high definition.
The resolution for the two options is – standard (1600 x 1052) and HD (up to 4096 x 2692). Photos sent in standard quality are usually less than 3MP, but HD quality is up to 12MP.
Note that high-quality mode must be turned on each time media is sent.
Photos shared through WhatsApp messages are notorious for being low quality, as the messaging service heavily compresses them. This was fine back in the Blackberry and iPhone 4 days, but as smartphone cameras improved and screens gain higher resolution, it’s become very apparent and, frankly, annoying.
