Today, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of WhatsApp Channels in over 150 countries, providing a secure method to receive important updates privately. We’re opening the doors to numerous organizations, sports teams, artists, and thought leaders for users to follow directly within WhatsApp.

For those unfamiliar with Channels, our objective is to create the most confidential broadcasting service possible. Channels exist independently from your regular chats, and the identities of whom you choose to follow remain undisclosed to other followers. We take measures to safeguard both administrators’ and followers’ personal information.

We value the positive response received during our initial launch in ten countries. As we extend the availability of Channels worldwide, we’re introducing the following enhancements:

1. Enhanced Directory: You can now discover channels tailored to your country, filtered automatically. Additionally, you can explore new, highly active, and popular channels based on follower count.

2. Reactions: Express your feedback using emojis and view the total reaction count, all while maintaining the privacy of your specific reaction from other followers.

3. Editing: Administrators will soon have the capability to edit their updates for a duration of 30 days before automatic deletion from our servers.

4. Forwarding: When forwarding an update to chats or groups, a link back to the channel will be included, enabling recipients to learn more about the update.
