New feature for WhatsApp Communities
Since the introduction of Communities on WhatsApp, it’s been exciting to observe how people with shared interests—such as neighborhoods, school associations, and hobby groups—utilize this feature to stay connected and organized. To enhance these connections further, we’re introducing a new way to organize events on WhatsApp and launching structured replies for Announcement Groups, allowing members to respond to important updates from admins.
With the new events feature, planning get-togethers directly on WhatsApp is now easier than ever. Whether setting up a virtual meeting or a birthday dinner, anyone can create an event, and others can respond, ensuring the whole group knows who’s attending. Guests can find event details on the group’s information page, and attendees will receive automatic notifications as the event date approaches. Initially, events will be available in groups that are part of a Community, with a broader rollout to all groups in the coming months.
We’re also adding replies to Announcement Groups, enabling admins to receive feedback from members while keeping the group space streamlined for catching up on Community news. Replies are grouped and minimized to provide context without cluttering the conversation, and notifications for these replies are muted for all participants.
For more details and updates, you can visit the WhatsApp website and check out the latest WhatsApp news and WhatsApp blogs. Whether you’re using WhatsApp on your phone or accessing WhatsApp Web, these new features will help you stay organized and connected.
In the upcoming months, we’ll continue to introduce new features to Communities and groups, providing more tools to help users stay organized on WhatsApp. Stay tuned for updates here and on our WhatsApp Channel within the app.
